japan – kyoto | fabs goes asia, part 9

Dear viewer, this is part 9 of the fabs goes asia series.
In this video, we tried to get a last glimpse at Mount Fuji, but unfortunately the weather was too cloudy. So we left Hakone and went to Kyoto – again, by bullet train. This city impressed us due to the very intriguing mix of traditional and modern lifestyle and all of the beautiful things we got to see in the few days we’ve been there. Best example for the contrast in Kyoto are the real vs. touristy Geishas that can be seen all over the city. Some of the attractions we visited were the Arashiyama bamboo forest, the Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Kyoto Imperial Palace (where we met a real Geisha – at least we think so) and the Nishiki Food Market. On our first night we went to the Gion district to see an introduction into Japanese culture in the Gion Corner Theatre. Also we were drawn to Nijo Castle, which was built in a special way, so the residing Shōgun could hear Ninja warriors entering and moving inside the building. Fascinating tour through the castle. Spontaneaously we decided to check out the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery and were lucky enough to get two last places in the guided tour. Of course we tried some of their exquisit whiskys. Perfect finale for an amazing stay in one of the most memorable cities in Japan 2018.
