I hired a volunteer guide from Goodwill Guide for Kyoto Handicraft and History
https://kyotoguidevltr.wixsite.com/ggkh to bring us around Kyoto for 2 days. There are various volunteer guides around Japan and though it is free, there are certain fees you need to bear such as a flat fee of 1,500 yen for the guide’s travel fee from his/her home to your hostel, fees for you and your guide’s entrance fees to the places you wish to visit (guides from recognised organisations will usually have free entry to most attractions so don’t worry. You also have to pay for the guide’s meal or a flat fee to have him/her not join you for your meal if you wants privacy. Other than that, I think it is an affordable way to travel around worry free and still go to the places you have decided.

0:54 Nanzenji Temple was our first attraction from my list. It rains alot in Kyoto, that I was forced to keep my gimbal many times. For history of the attractions, you can find it everywhere else.

1:22 Suirokaku Canal is an important place for Kyoto as it transports water and goods to different parts of the prefecture from Biwa Lake.

1:47 Tenjuan Garden is a tranquil and serene place to appreciate the stillness of nature, even with the crowd, it still offers a peaceful harmony inside your heart.

2:50 The Philosopher’s path was named after a famous philosophy professor who took regular walk along the path to contemplate and relax. Looking at the beautiful nature along this lazy path allows you to think better. It runs along the canal and stretch a span of 2 kilometres from Nanzenji to Ginkaku Ji being the starting point. So you see where we are heading?

3:21 Ginkaku Ji means Silver Temple. Apologies for the lack of photos as the rain was pretty bad, there wasn’t any opportunity to carry umbrella, squeeze with the crowd, walking along slippery stones and holding on to my phone (which was cracked when I was in Nara).

4:02 The rain died to a drizzle in the late afternoon when we reached Gion District. It was a pity, I wanted to explore the place more but we had to rush and get our Haruka tickets in advance for the journey back to airport. Gion is a city bustling iwth vehicles and crowd (rainy days made it worse) Beautiful Cherryblossom trees were in view against the setting sun.
