A Bamboo Forest in Kyoto
Kyoto | Japan
APRIL 13, 2018—This was the first part of our Kyoto-Nara-Kobe day tour from Osaka. We had a very pleasant trip to the Japanese countryside making our first stop at the Arashiyama District in Kyoto. Our main objective here was to visit the Instagram-famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove or more simply known as the "Bamboo Forest."
To be clear Japan has lots of bamboo forests both in Kyoto and all throughout the country. But this particular bamboo forest has earned fame in recent years since it was developed and opened to tourists. It has become quite famous especially in Instagram.
It was a cool morning for a walking tour. We started out from the tourist bus parking lot by the sparklingly clean Katsura River. We then walked for approximately 1 kilometer to the bamboo forest.
Arashiyama district, and the whole Kyoto countryside in general, is a perfect place to experience the traditional Japan – people wearing kimono, rickshaws, beautiful gardens, Shinto and buddhist temples, etc. It is also quite popular for gastronomical treats, both traditional Japanese food and popular and contemporary Japanese street food.
This is a short video presentation of our morning walking tour to visit a Bamboo Forest at the Arashiyama District in Kyoto, Japan. Enjoy watching.
