Where to eat in Kyoto in 2018? Our recent visit to Kyoto was all about the food this time round. We hope it serves as a small food guide of what delicious food Kyoto has to offer.

We started our food adventure at Nakatanidou near Nara Kintetsu Station to watch the famous Mochi Pounding. There is no set time to watch this dramatic high speed Mochi pounding process. They start the process once they start to run out of their speciality Yomogi Mochi. You either have to keep coming back or be lucky.

We then took the train to Kyoto to try some street food at Nishiki Market. You can find a whole range different foods as well as fresh produce and seafood.

Not to far we have located Kyoto Gogyo to try theor speciality kogashi or burnt ramen. One of the best ramen experiences we’ve had!

For the dog lovers, there is an opportunity to play with adorable shibu inu puppies at Mameshiba Cafe.

To cool off try some Matcha desserts and shaved ice at Tsjuiri. You can find matcha anywhere better!

Our last meal we had Tempura Donburi ‘Tendon’. The visual speaks for itself. The tempura batter was deep fried peefectly. Who doesn’t want a bowl of deep fried deliciousness!
